Very latest variety you can try and taste it with your family..

Ingredients :

 

Rice – 1 1/2 cups

Tur dal – 1/2 cups
Onions – 1, large, finely chopped
Tomatoes – 2, medium size, finely chopped
Green chilies – 2, slit
Coriander leaves – 2 tbsps, finely chopped
Tempering/Poppu/Tadka:
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Garlic – 2, cloves, crushed (Optional)
Red chilies – 2, tear and de-seed
Cinnamon stick – 1″
Cloves – 2
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Oil – 1 tbsp
Ghee – 1 tbsp

Method to prepare Arisi paruppu sadam :

 

Heat oil or Ghee in a pressure cooker.
Add mustard seeds and allow to splutter then add cumin seeds also. Now add redchillies If you are interested Garlic also if not you can avoid it totally. Then curry leaves and keep it on flame for few seconds to minute.
Now add chopped onions and cutted green chillies and sauté for 5mnts more .
Now add turmeric powder and lastly add cutted tomatoes
Now add drained rice and dal and stir for few minutes. Then add coriander leaves and mix it well.
Now measure 4 cups of water and add it and place lid.
Allow the cooker for 3-4 whistles and turn off the stove.
After some time just stir once and add coriander leaves for garnish then serve with love
